A device to strengthen breathing. Hongyi JIG sat between the customer's concept and the toolmaker's execution — ensuring the ball lifts every time.

The Tooling

A device for people who cannot breathe freely.

PneumoCare came to Hongyi JIG with a specific idea — a breathing exercise device for asthma patients. A cigar-shaped body, a steel ball inside, and a mouthpiece. The patient blows air in. The ball lifts. The resistance builds lung stamina over time. Hongyi JIG bridged the gap between the customer's concept and the toolmaker's execution.

Design renderDesign render

From sketches to a render — and one critical challenge.

Multiple sketches led to a final rendered design. The device had to be airtight — the ball lifts only if air has nowhere else to go. Hongyi JIG mapped how air enters, channels upward, and how the two-part assembly seals completely. Gate location, surface finish, draft angles — every decision connected back to one question: will the ball lift cleanly, every time?

What changes when governance sits between customer and toolmaker
Without HJIG — Design iterated without a validation gate. Tooling decisions made on assumption, not evidence.
Assumption-driven execution
With HJIG — Air-channel concept validated on prototype before any steel was cut.
Validated before tooling

Tested. Validated. Then tooling.

Before committing to steel, prototypes were built and functionally tested. Does air channel correctly? Does the ball lift with the right resistance? Is assembly achievable without leakage? Only after prototype validation was tooling confirmed. Gate positioning and wall thickness were controlled so the production part matched in performance — not just appearance.

Production-ready MuClearProduction-ready MuClear
The ball had to lift. The air had to have nowhere else to go. Every gap in the design was a gap in the therapy.
Actual mouldActual mould

Moulds built in China. Export-ready quality.

Injection moulds were developed in China with Hongyi JIG coordinating between PneumoCare and the toolmaker. Cavity configuration, multi-cavity planning, and production strategy were all decided before steel was cut. Hongyi JIG ensured the toolmaker understood exactly what was required — and that PneumoCare received exactly what had been validated. Assembly was achieved on the second trial.
